Discovery Park

The DSRC Board and Staff presented at the Society for Ecological Restoration—Southwest Chapter Annual Conference. Two board members presented on topics near and dear to their hearts. DSRC staff led a robust conversation about the challenges and efforts to recruit and support small growers for native plant material development.

It was fantastic to have the opportunity to collaborate, share, and be inspired by others in the field.

Thank you to all the panelists and attendees for the incredible engagement and passion.

In the past year, DSRC, along with Gila Watershed Partnership and Eastern Arizona College, made an impact on our collaborative space in Discovery Park.

Together, we successfully grew and tended native plants. Professors Cline and Mower utilized that space to educate their students. These students were introduced to the idea that traditional farming is not the only option in the desert southwest. Changing their perspective will impact future generations of farmers to be active stewards and partners of our desert ecosystem.

We look to increase this impact in 2025 by implementing new species and ways we grow seeds. We plan to not only grow seeds in the ground, but also in pots, and other modalities to identify the most successful ways to farm native plants for conservation efforts.

We have new clothing!
