Welcome to the Desert Seed Resource Center!
We're excited to be dedicated to working with growers, agencies, and other organizations to improve the availability of local seeds and plants for the desert southwest.
The DSRC Board and Staff presented at the Society for Ecological Restoration—Southwest Chapter Annual Conference. Our Deputy Director, Kara Barron, gave a presentation on recruiting growers for the seed orchard. Our Board Chair, Steve Plath, led a grower panel discussion on starting a native plant nursery.
It was fantastic to have the opportunity to collaborate, share, and be inspired by others in the field.
DSRC leadership loves to attend these conferences for the robust conversation, information, and to share with others who are passionate about our desert ecosystems.

In the past year, DSRC, along with Gila Watershed Partnership and Eastern Arizona College, made an impact on our collaborative space in Discovery Park.
Together, we successfully grew and tended native plants. Professors Cline and Mower utilized that space to educate their students. These students were introduced to the idea that traditional farming is not the only option in the desert southwest. Changing their perspective will impact future generations of farmers to be active stewards and partners of our desert ecosystem.
We look to increase this impact in 2025 by implementing new species and ways we grow seeds. We plan to not only grow seeds in the ground, but also in pots, and other modalities to identify the most successful ways to farm native plants for conservation efforts.

This holiday season, please support DSRC's efforts to clean/prepare the seeds that were collected from our seed orchard.
We are in desperate need of materials to remove the seed from chaff so that they can be properly stored until the next growing season. Please visit our Amazon Wishlist below or make a donation today.
