The Desert Seed Resource Center has a mission to increase the availability of native plant materials for conservation of the desert southwest through education, research, and collaboration.
Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
The Desert Seed Resource Center recognizes that we are stronger when we embrace and reflect diversity in all its forms and are committed to ensuring that our organization welcomes and reflects the region’s full spectrum of cultures and identities.
Respect for All
Our core mission is to collaborate as one of many organizations working together, contributing to the conservation, restoration, and rehabilitation of plants in the complex ecology of the desert southwest. Success depends on the active partnership between the people whose lives and livelihoods depend on the natural environment and systems we seek to protect. We commit to treat our partners with honesty and fairness and to work with all peoples to further shared goals. We pledge to practice sensitivity and awareness of the realities of people from all communities and cultures and to demonstrate respect for and celebrate those differences by considering the perspectives and needs of these communities in our planning and development of programs and services. By valuing and including diverse perspectives in our work we can promote equity in our society and support the well-being of the ecosystems shared by all life in the desert southwest.
Land Acknowledgement
Desert Seed Resource Center recognizes that Native American and Indigenous people have long served as stewards of the land on which we live and work. We respect their sovereignty and rights to self-determination and acknowledge the historic and continuing injustices experienced by Native American and Indigenous peoples. We strive to support actions that promote the inclusion of traditional knowledge, and the interests and values of Native American and Indigenous people to establish a relationship built on trust, integrity, and shared desire to protect the flora of the desert southwest.
